Learning to drive in a manual car isn't for everyone especially in busy cities where changing gears and clutch control is a necessary part of everyday driving. If you want to live life without the clutch pedal it can make the physical job of driving much easier, allowing you more time to concentrate on driving safely. Thankfully our talented Shammah Driving School driving instructors are on hand with automatic driving lessons that can get you on the road in no time.
There are loads of reasons you might choose to learn in an automatic car. A lot of people find it a lot easier than using a manual. And if you have a disability that makes it difficult to change gears, an automatic is a great option. But is it for you? Let’s have a closer look.
If you live in an urban area, you might find driving an automatic more convenient. If there’s a lot of traffic, you’ll need to stop and start regularly. So driving a manual will mean changing gears frequently, and working the clutch a lot.
Also, if you live in a hilly area, automatics can be really handy. Hill starts are much easier in an automatic, as you don’t have to find the bite of the clutch, and are at less risk of rolling backwards.
We’ll cut straight to the chase - here at Shammah Driving School, we don’t offer a 'crash course' in learning to drive . It’s understandable that people want to get on the road quickly, but we believe this should never come at the cost of training our pupils safely and comprehensively.
We give driving lessons at a pupil’s preferred pace. Even if the preferred pace is ‘lightning’, we’ll still never recommend that a pupil applies for a practical test before we’re sure they’re ready. This doesn't mean you cant pass fast, in fact at Shammah Driving School we love to see you progress at pace, with confidence and pass first time.
Intensive driving lessons are a route some people take who want to get their licence as quickly as possible. These can sometimes be daily lessons between two and five hours long, and typically two weeks. If the idea of going from total beginner to being qualified to drive in just two week rings alarm bells, then you're not alone.
We don’t doubt that it’s possible for someone to take a 2 week course s and pass their test… We are sceptical that this will provide a comprehensive foundation for being a safe, competent driver for life, though.
Beginner driving lessons are a perfect way to improve on certain skills, bump up your road safety or boost your confidence behind the wheel.
We understand that there are several reasons why motorist require refresher lessons; from needing additional assurance to get behind the wheel following an accident to building confidence when driving on a motorway or at night – that's why our instructors are trained to listen to your needs and tailor your course accordingly.
Behind the wheel instruction will be taught through verbal instruction, observation and demonstration. Students at Shammah Driving School will be exposed to all types of driving conditions before completing their driver education course. Driving in urban, rural and highway environments can all present different problems and it is crucial to expose the students to all situations possible. Instructors will guide students to make proper mirror, seat, and steering wheel adjustments to provide maximum safety, visibility and comfort while driving. All lessons will also apply the concept of SIPDE (Search,Identify,Predict,Decide,Execute). This concept will train students to always be aware of their surroundings and realize the dangers of distractions while driving. Students will learn and practice all skills listed above. The order in which they will be taught will be based on the students progression and skill level
Students can begin the classroom portion of driver's education at 15 years and 9 months. At 16 students are eligible to receive a learner's permit. Once a student has a learners permit behind the wheel instruction and observation can begin.
